Affiliate disclosure
How this site makes money, and the line we hold between funding and recommendations. Last updated September 2026.
RouteHaven is free to read, and we fund it partly through affiliate commissions. This page explains exactly how that works and where we draw the line. Last updated September 2026.
What an affiliate link is
Some links to VPN providers are affiliate links. If you click one and later buy a subscription, the provider pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. We mark these links, and outbound affiliate links carry a "sponsored" tag so search engines and readers know their nature.
What it does not change
A commission never buys a recommendation, a ranking, or a kinder verdict. We rank and recommend on what the hardware and providers actually do, with dated evidence. When two options are close, we say so; when the honest pick has no affiliate program at all, we still name it.
Why we recommend unpaid tools
You will see us recommend Mullvad and, for their plain WireGuard configs, tools that run no affiliate program. Mullvad does not pay affiliates by policy, so recommending it earns us nothing — that absence is deliberate proof that our advice follows the facts, not the payouts.
Prices and accuracy
VPN prices change constantly and vary by region and billing term, so we describe pricing in general terms and tell you to check the current price on the provider's site before buying. For our broader approach, see about RouteHaven. Questions: [email protected].
