Privacy policy
What this site collects — Google Analytics included — what it doesn't, and the third parties involved. Last updated 9 October 2026.
RouteHaven is a static website that we try to keep as light and privacy-respecting as the subject deserves. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to data when you visit. Last updated 9 October 2026.
What we collect directly
Very little beyond the analytics described below. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell data. If you email us, we keep your message to reply and to track corrections; if you subscribe to update alerts, we store the email address only to send those alerts, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Analytics and logs
Our host may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page requested) to run and secure the site.
For page measurement we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd., to learn which router guides help. It collects pages viewed, the referring site, approximate location (city or country), device and browser type, and session timing. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation are disabled, so nothing here is used for advertising, and we don't sell the data.
Think of consent as a firewall rule with a regional default. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked through a banner, and nothing is sent to Google unless they click Accept. Elsewhere, analytics is allowed by default and you can switch it off at any time; browsers sending Global Privacy Control are treated as opted out. When analytics is allowed, GA4 sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years — never before. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage (key analytics-consent), not in a cookie.
Cookie settings reopens the banner if you want to change your answer. Google's processing is covered by Google's privacy policy, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on blocks it across every site.
Affiliate links and cookies
When you click an outbound link to a VPN provider, that provider (or its affiliate network) may set a cookie so a later purchase is credited to us. That cookie is set by them under their privacy policy, not ours. You can decline or clear cookies in your browser. See our affiliate disclosure for how this funds the site.
Your choices
You can browse without giving us any personal information, block cookies, and use the site through a VPN — we would hope so. To ask about any data you have sent us, email [email protected].
